You know what would be fun? Taking one of those, decompiling the firmware and making an open source version with new features. You could put an AI voice assistant or something idk. Granted I don't know if this can even communicate with the outside world anymore given that it only had GSM.
And then create a Nostr client for it

I've thought about it a bit more, maybe a newer model like the N95 or even an N-Gage would be better, less nostalgic but you're not so completely limited by the hardware. Those phones were limited by their terrible OS anyway so it might be interesting. Or maybe you could go the other way, make a custom board with a modern processor that just fits in an older phone, that might be cooler although more expensive. Then again at some point you just wonder what the purpose of this is vs just making a new phone.
