That's because ergonomics is something you set up with your physical workspace, silly. But for real, functional programming can be very unintuitive.

It's a programming paradigm in which statements are structured like mathematical functions, receiving an input and returning a singular output for any given input. The Lisps make extensive use of the concept, allowing for some impressive metaprogramming in which whole programs can be offered as inputs, Haskell uses it (don't ask me how, I know nothing about Haskell) and Nix uses it to create deterministic computing environments to allow packages to maintain a list of dependencies wholly separate from the system (avoiding both dependency hell and the classic "it worked on my system") and allowing for packages with byte-level reproduceability (Guix utilizes Guile, a variant of the Scheme Lisp dialect to a very similar purpose), which helps to chip away at the trusting trust problem.

I'm not very well-learned in Go, but what little I do know tells me that it's fucking awesome and I can only hope that it supplants Java as the default high-level language with garbage collection.
