There is no AI processing afaik

I have Pixel 7a with GrapheneOS. Its the best phone i have ever had. I did a downgrade of hardware and still felt that the phone is better than my old one.

If you get the chance, do try out GrapheneOS. Containing everything google inside of a private profile that automaticly locks when you want it to is great. No more looking for whatever app is still running in the backround bulls...

Also one thing to add, Google probably does not mind graphene OS in its current state. Of course they lose tons of ad revenue because users won't have as mutch users to seeve google ads and data collection, but At least they get hardware sales to make up for that revenue.

it doesn't prevent tracking.

Graphene is supposed to be a compenatory measure for if you already bought a pixel and can't afford to move to something better like a pine phone. You aren't supposed to buy a pixel for the purpose of putting graphene on it.

you can still use google maps signed out. I used osmand one time in the city at night on a long trip and almost had a head on collision because it didn't understand I was in a right turn only lane, and I was tired so I didn't catch it. After that I just use google maps, but signed out, and have it "disabled" in settings when I am not using it. I also never navigate to my actual house, just a shopping mall nearby if I am coming back home from far away. Then I park at the mall, disable the app and the location permission, then head home. I guess it is a bit of extra hassle but I don't mind doing it personally and I have had a generally headache free experience using it that way. What maps do you use instead of google?

I had that issue too, but if you have an X account (I didn't, so I just made one up) you can use a FOSS privacy focused X client called QuaX - https://github.com/Teskann/QuaX. It's updated frequently and works well for me. You can download and screenshot any media you see too which is nice. Just make note of the fact it only uses your account as more of an API key to access X rather than actually being signed in. So when you follow an account in QuaX, it's separate to your actual account. This is a pro or a con depending on who you are. For me, it's a pro.

One person controls the single global signing key.

Every update pushed to 400000 devices is signed by Daniel Micay. He already proved in 2018 he will destroy signing keys and brick thousands of users devices on purpose when he feels wronged. That same key can push any code, silently, automatically, to any phone, at any time. verified boot guarantees the device will accept it.

You would have no way to know what was added.

You can install pixel camera and google photos and just revoke all network permissions to get the same experience as stock without spying
