I have a lenovo yoga slim 7i which has a decent build quality, 16 gigs of ram and an OLED screen. I mainly use it for taking notes in class, word documents and youtube videos, web-browsing etc. I think i bought it for 600$ in my currency.
What you need yours for?

Tell us you're new without telling us you're new.
Used Dell Latitude from 2020-2022 for ~200$
If you don't need Av1 hardware decode then 2018-2019 Latitude
Pick an Linux distro, if you know what's good Xfce

Your only affordable option is Macbook Neo unless Sam Ackman acked himself all of a sudden.

I remember Asus did 14-inch vivobooks. They are very sturdy, hinges do hinge alright. Just make sure you're getting good integrated graphics. Pay only some extra for the build, not for the meme GPU bs.

Macbook Neo.

Macbook Neo.
Only if used. After a person was disillusioned, they will try to sell it for what it's worth. Then you can buy. Do not buy from Apple, it's a scam. Chips in Neo are discarded trash, memory are some leftovers etc.

Grab a Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 off of Bestbuy's sale: fanless snappy laptop with 16 gigs of ram and a 17 hour battery life for 650 bucks; performance around a M2 air also has an OLED touchscreen.

Biggest drawback is that it has a strong GPU for an ARM SoC it is not a Snapdragon so the ability to play vidya via Game Native is extremely frustrating due to a lack of documentation and no access to Turnip drivers.

That's what I got. $700 for an ebay vivobook s14 with an OLED screen, 24gb ram, ryzen 9 ai 365 cpu. The mediatek wifi is some of the worst I've ever had but I use it docked and wired most of the time.
