is this an argument in favor of UBI?

I've been thinking about this and I concluded that if all my needs were taken care of ... UBI, Utopian communism, estranged millionair uncle inhertance, I WOULD probably work, but only 4 hours a day. To feel useful, to improve society, to not fall into idle rot.

I used to do 4 hours at two different jobs while studying, and 4 hours is really doable and not that much of a burden to everything else you're doing with your life.

It sucks. At the end of the day a workaholic who only derives meaning from their job is no different from a gaming addict grinding on RuneScape 12 hours a day. But culturally speaking the first guy is rewarded while the second is considered a loser.

I think that's what not a lot of people mention:

- let's say this is equivalent to a rise of everyone's salary about 150%

- now you get 2.5x times money

- the baker you buy bread from also gets 2.5x money. So does literally everyone

- producing goods becomes roughly 2.5x times more expensive

- you can afford roughly the same stuff, and your retirement is worth roughly 2.5x less

The inflation argument is an argument about capitalism - if the layer of parasites who hoard 90% of all the fruit of the workers labour remain, yes, you will have a problem. Get rid of the parasites at the same time. THe choice for them would be family death penalty or becoming a normal person like everyone else.
