Personally, I really don't care about this whole development because it doesn't affect me. I have no desire to use social media and even if I were eventually locked out of YouTube, that might actually be for the best. In the long run, I want to break away from the major platforms entirely and seek out the internet's hidden, small, niche gems like Everiot. The internet crackdown doesn't scare me. it is primarily a crackdown on the mainstream internet. I mean, it surely won't be any worse than in China and even there, you can still find and use ultra-niche websites. Even 4chan isn't blocked in China.

btw have you noticed that mastodon is completely ignored by these new censorship laws? Regardless of the country. Even instances like Baraag aren't being blocked anywhere, and Baraag is much more controversial and larger than Everiot. That’s why I’m not worried. All this talk about internet censorship is just fear-mongering.

The whole debate about internet "censorship" in the context of these age-verification laws is hypocritical anyway. I’m not even trying to sugarcoat these laws, but let’s be honest: mainstream platforms are totalitarian dictatorships. they are hive minds. There is no freedom of speech on major social media platforms. Besides, the content on these platforms is just garbage anyway. I find it incredibly hypocritical to frame this whole issue as a "fight for free speech and privacy" when it’s actually about the biggest slop factories and hive minds. Absolutely hypocritical. nothing is lost. as long there is tor, i don't care about this made up fear mongering.
