I have always found mastodon and lemmy too complex. Or maybe I am stupid.

Mastodon and Lemmy aren't complex. The principle is actually very simple, but the main "argument" for them is to present themselves as "decentralized," which in reality is nothing more than empty talk. Mastodon and Lemmy are in fact centralized dictatorships. And there's no reason to use them seriously, because they're both the most unfunny and boring platforms out there.
