What the fuck were they thinking? No minimalist would pay 500$, and it's an extremely niche product. You could be minimalist with basic tools and no slop on any android. You can also just buy a new flipphone today at dollar general for 20$. I think my 2023 flipphone would be incapable of running most social media as well. I don't think Commodore has that kind of brand recognition, either.

Forgot to mention, it is exclusively SMS (no modern RCS messaging) and does not natively support email in any form.

It DOES have a genuine, real FM radio built into it. That's its only niche/cool feature that I have noticed. The rest are just "normal flipphone with less/more annoying features and 480$ more"

these dumbphones are designed to scam people who think posting on instagram is the source of all their problems and that having an antique phone makes them look cool. of course they'd cost 500$

This reminds me of these pseudo-retro consoles which intentionally made the CPU/Ram crappy so "designers would use the limitations to the advantage". They don't realize the idea of these type of game was "Squeeze the max CPU cycles possible using the fastest option" - so this phone intentionally crippling its feature-set is another anti-tinkering artifact like a console that only runs some shitty game.
